This Privacy Policy describes how Darrell A. Johnson, Attorney at Law (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit dajohnsonlaw.com and any pages that link to this Policy (the “Site”), contact us, or use our services.

Attorney–client relationship and confidentiality

Submitting information through the Site does not create an attorney–client relationship. Please do not send confidential or privileged information until we have executed a written engagement agreement. If you become our client, information you provide may be protected by attorney–client privilege and/or the work-product doctrine, subject to applicable law and our engagement terms.

Information we collect

How we use information

• Provide and improve the Site and our legal services.
• Respond to inquiries, schedule consultations, and manage client matters.
• Maintain security, prevent fraud/abuse, and comply with law and ethics rules.
• Analytics to understand Site usage (aggregate/anonymous where feasible).
• With your consent, send updates or appointment reminders by email or SMS (see “A2P SMS”).

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies for Site functionality and, with your consent, analytics cookies to improve the Site. Manage your preferences via the Cookie Policy or Cookie Settings. If we use Google Analytics 4, we enable IP anonymization and do not use advertising features unless stated otherwise.

How we share information

• Service providers (hosting, email, SMS/telephony, analytics, security, scheduling) under contracts that limit use to our instructions.
• Legal/Compliance when required by law, court order, or ethics rules.
• Business transfers if we reorganize or merge, consistent with this Policy.
• No sale or cross-context advertising: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by state privacy laws.

Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please use caution and avoid sending sensitive details until we establish an attorney–client relationship and secure channel.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, to meet legal/ethical obligations (including client-file retention rules), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We apply documented retention periods and securely delete or anonymize data when no longer needed.

Your privacy choices & state rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to limit certain uses. California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah residents have additional rights under state law.

• Access/Deletion/Correction – request a copy, deletion, or correction of your data.
• Opt-out of targeted advertising/sale – we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising; if that changes, you’ll see a Do Not Sell or Share link.
• Appeal – if we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email.

To submit a request, email privacy@dajohnsonlaw.com or use our Privacy Request form. We will verify your identity (and authority, if applicable) before fulfilling a request. Authorized agents may submit on your behalf with proof of authorization.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Third-party links and services

The Site may link to third-party websites or embed third-party services (e.g., maps, scheduling, video). We do not control their practices. Review their privacy policies before using those services.

International visitors

We are located in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries with different data-protection laws than your country of residence.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our practices or legal requirements. When we post changes, we will revise the “Effective date” above. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
